Hi,

This is maybe a strange question and I apologize if it is inappropriate for the community and will delete it
if so, if the moderators don't do it first.
My fiancee has been living in Ohio for several years and she's irritated that Ohio is still known
as a Midwestern state for historical reasons, despite being in the northeastern range of the modern U.S.
She's said that Ohioans would become angry at being told they lived in a Midwestern state. So, I wanted to
make a poll to gauge a general reaction from this community. This is for Ohio residents or people who've
lived in Ohio for awhile in the past. (I'm not sure what "awhile" should mean here.)

Poll #1398795 Ohio and Midwestern vs. Northeastern

If someone calls Ohio a Midwestern state, does it irritate you?

No.
11(84.6%)
Yes, a little.
2(15.4%)
Yes, a lot.

Get out and vote in the Ohio Democratic Primaries! [28 Feb 2008|11:08pm]

insomnia
Hello... I'm an Obama volunteer, passing on the info to everyone in the community what the rules are for voting in the upcoming Ohio Democratic Primary.

I noticed in the various Ohio communities that several people have been confused about the current rules in Ohio, so I just want to make it clear:

You CAN vote in the Democratic Primaries, no matter what your party affiliation!

Just be sure to do two things:

1> Bring ID. You can vote with as little as the knowledge of the last four digits of your social security number -- or with no ID if you request a provisional ballot -- but you really want photo ID with you, if at all possible.

2> Be sure to ask for a Democratic ballot, or you will not be able to vote for the Democratic candidates! You will automatically be registered Democrat for the primaries, but can change party affiliation at any time afterwards.

You can also vote early, before the election. In fact, it's highly recommended, as there could be very long delays at the polls this year.  You can find your local early voting location and cast your vote today, tomorrow, or, in most counties, this Saturday at your county's Board of Elections office.

For any other information, please visit http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/PublicAffairs/voterInfoGuide.aspx or call your county's Board of Elections.

My wife and I are going camping in the Hocking Hills/Logan area this coming weekend, and will be visiting Athens as well during that time. While we're there, we'd like to eat at some unique or at least interesting places in that area. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help.

THIS IS A SERIOUS POST.

I woke up this morning and went to my beautiful rat's cage and she had given birth sometime during the night. Though I kind of suspect she may have given birth only a few hours ago, because she is still really big and has only had 5-7 babies.

Anyways, I really want to find good homes for these cute little rat babies, is anyone interested? (i'm giving them away for free)

I live in NW Ohio.. in a town called Findlay about an hour from Toledo. Please, consider this. Rats are beautiful intelligent, clean animals with a really bad rep. Comment to this entry, or email me at crisis_city@yahoo.com

Questions for my friends to the south (that would be you, ohio). [06 Jan 2006|03:22am]

doubledvideo
I just this community to ask one simple question.

I've lived in Michigan all my life, and have driven through your fine state many of times (mostly for Cedar Pt) but tonight it was to drive to Cleveland to see the Cavs' game...

my one question...

What the hell is going on in Toledo with I-280 ( I think that was the interstate) where they are building this massive overpass thats like 300 ft in the air...and every year i drive through that shit and it seems to be at the same condition as the year before...I have never once driven down there w/o having that construction going on...what are they doing, how long has it been going on, and is there that much traffic that it needs to be fixed? Can anyone explain???? Thanks!!!

Take care guys!

neato-mosquito Xmas light display . . . and looking for a job . . . [02 Dec 2005|07:44pm]

badkitty1782
Does anybody know where this guy's house is and what frequency your radio needs to be set to in order to hear what music he's playing this year? More info can be found at http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/xmaslights.asp . I don't watch the news much, so maybe it's been shown on their. I'd really like to get some sort of contact info for him (Carson Williams of Mason, OH) so I can find out more.

Also, I am looking for a new job. I'm being screwed over by my current employer and it's time to find something new . . . or at least something to help me supplement what little income they are providing me. I'd prefer to make $8/hr.+ . . . no food service and no telemarketing. Plus no heavy lifting and fairly flexible hours. I'd prefer to work somewhere with in 20 minutes of Fairfield, other wise I may end up just doing work study at school, although making the commute on a semi-daily basis would suck, as I only have class one day a week down there now.

Thanks a lot everybody.

Ohio governor charged with 4 misdemeanors [17 Aug 2005|04:29pm]

Prosecutor: Ohio governor to be charged with 4 misdemeanors

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Gov. Bob Taft, under
investigation for not reporting numerous golf outings as required by ethics law,
will be charged with four misdemeanors, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Taft, a Republican and member of a distinguished U.S. political family, would
be the first Ohio governor to be charged with a crime. If convicted, he could be
fined $1,000 and sentenced to six months in jail on each count, though time
behind bars was considered unlikely.

Taft will be charged later Wednesday, said City Prosecutor Stephen McIntosh,
who declined to comment further pending an afternoon news conference.

Support for my family [09 Jul 2005|09:34pm]

[ mood | busy ]

Please all try to make it to this event for my cousin, Trevor. He's very sick. It's going to be a lot of fun and still something to help him. Trevor's liver transplant is scheduled for Monday at 6 am. There will be an article on him in the Plain Dealer...

But for this Panini's event, they're really looking for people to add to it (apparently including bachelors and bachelorettes to auction off), so if you know of anyone who would be interested, please let me know so I can forward the information to my family.

We are all currently selling Malley's chocolate bars also (including the yummy pretzel kind) so if you would like to buy some candy bars, let me know about that too!
